Bocce league starts to roll

March 25, 2014

Construction of the eagerly anticipated Ipsen Family bocce courts will begin this month.

A joint effort involving Skipolini’s founder Skip Ipsen, son Kent Ipsen (president of Skipolini’s, Inc.) and the Clayton Business & Community Association, the four courts are expected to be completed in time for organized league play to begin in June. The CBCA will organize and operate the Clayton Bocce League.

League play will run Sundays beginning at 6 p.m. and Mondays throughThursdays, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Regular season and playoffs will run through the end of September.

Team fees will be $350 per team (minimum of six and maximum of 10 persons). Single-person signups will also be available and every effort will be made to match a single with a team. CBCA will be accepting completed applications and team fees at public sign-up events to be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Skipolini’s on the following Saturdays: April 5, April 19, and May 10.

CBCA will also be offering donation opportunities for persons who are interested in having their name affixed to courts, benches, and tables.

Anyone interested in more information on league play, obtaining an application, or inquiring about donations should send an email to claytonbocceleague@gmail.com.
